Finally a Post

Thanks for bearing with me everyone. Blogging is still a bit of a chore. We did a short trip to the Netherlands last week that combined a talk for Dan & a family getaway.

This is the Bed & Breakfast that we stayed at close to the city of Groningen. Micah said, "This is the BEST hotel I've ever stayed at." It was a lovely little place out in the country, 20 min. away from Groningen.

We had a beautiful afternoon hanging out & playing while Dan gave his talk.

Our place had a nice long driveway perfect for enjoying this great Dutch toy.

On Thursday, March 22, we drove into the country to see the region where Dan's Great Grandfather Machiela was from. When we got out of the car we were all shock by how steep the canal was. This shot doesn't do justice to the steepness.

Playing on the Island of Texel. We took the ferry over. The kids thought the ferry was really cool with it's gift shop, car park, & resturant. We also visited a sheep farm on Texel & fell in love with the lambs. Yes, Ramona is still close to my heart! (I -Jody, had a lamb when I was 8).

Gabe & Micah were pleased with their cupboard bed & we all enjoyed the breakfast.

In Delft, we picked up fish at a stand that has been selling food since 1342! Micah is the biggest fan in our family of fish & chips.

Gabe really loved the giant wooden shoe. Micah shopped for a pin, while Sophia picked up a snow globe.

Delft at night

Windmill walk - Micah's favorite style

By the end of the trip we agreed Dutch food is better than German. It also looks more "normal" according to Gabe.

Ice cream - a great motivator/bribe to begin a walk along the canals of Urecht. ''Double scoop!"

Yum Yum Yum! (Sophia's words but echoed by all of us)

Hi Sophia - I agree with you. That pannenkoek looks VERY YUMMY. I remember having one when I was in the Netherlands and it was my favorite!! Love, Aunt Kris
