Bruges, Belgium - Last Day

Last Wednesday, April 11, we left Luxembourg at 4 for a 3 hour drive to Bruges. We had plans to meet Tracy & Dan at about 7 pm at the hotel. Well, 4 1/2 hours later we pulled into Bruges. Brussels was on a transportation strike and it made for very slow traffic around the city. Yuck. Bruges was a gem of a town and full of tourists even at this point in the year. We saw this impressive building on the way to dinner @ 9:00 at night.

The whole town was filled with homes or shops with peaked roofs like this. Very different architecture from anywhere else we have visited.

Cute breakfast dishes at the Bed & Breakfast we stayed at.

Yes, we all loved the Belgium Waffles.

Our last group shot. We said goodbye here - thanks for coming to visit.

After we said goodbye, we spent some time at a park, took a short walk around the canals, and saw the gates and windmills. Nice day. We left by 3:30 for a 6 hour drive back to Göttingen.

Since last week we've been back home and have been playing a lot of catch near our home with a tennis ball. The kids have discovered that we can "bat" with sticks :) We have gotten a lot of stares from people passing by as they do not play a lot of ball in Germany. I've got my sister on the look out for a used glove for our landlord's youngest son - he fell in love with the game using Sophia's glove. As always, life is an adventure.
