Trier, Germany Day 2

Our 4 day trip out of town was really fun and much needed. Somehow we had all sort of "hit a wall" with Germany and each other. Since we have gotten back to Göttingen things have been much better. Kids playing with each other better & not missing friends and "normal" school quite as much. School has started again and after a 3 1/2 week break it was a little daunting to start up again for them. Now that it's Wednesday we all know it will be OK until the Van Veen's come (in 1 1/2 weeks, yeah). One big event happened when we were in Trier - Gabe lost his first tooth.

We're not exactly sure where the new tooth will fit???

Displays of colored sticks - we thought it made for a fun Spring decoration

Typical house in the center. We were surprised by how quaint the city felt it made for a nice 1/2 day side trip after Köln.

This is why we choose to come to Trier - The Roman Gate - Porta Nigra. We got to walk up in it and see the perfectly cut stones. We figured no one else who came to visit Germany would actually want to see Roman things :)

Kids climbing on a Roman column

And of course, the church

They can only see so much and then they start playing - Gabe is being a sloth

I should also explain that after Köln we left Dan & Tracy for 1 1/2 days to do some different sites than what they were doing. We met back up with them in Bruges, Belgium for 1 day before saying goodbye. A side note - Our 4 day trip almost turned into 1 day. On Tuesday morning ( Day 2) Micah got sick! After a nap in the hotel, he decided that he felt good enough to continue. He was very happy he felt good enough to continue to Trier.

Day 3 - is Luxembourg City, Luxembourg

I'm glad that Micah was feeling better! Traveling while sick is miserable :(. I love the picture with Gabe and his lost tooth. I'm not sure where the new one will fit! That will be a challenge! Glad everyone is feeling a bit better :)
