Family Visit

It's hard to believe that Dan's parents, his sister Kris and brother-in-law Randy have already come and gone.  We said good-bye to them yesterday :(  We had a great time with them catching up, showing off our home, city, and doing a little traveling.  The time went very fast and the kids loved the extra attention.
Wülff's sausage a must for everyone who comes to Göttingen
The girls by the Gänseliesel
Paulaner restaurant  - good food & beer
On Thursday we went to Plesseburg ruins for a picnic.  We had great weather and the kids love running around there.
When we arrived at Plesseburg we discovered at we were not the only people who had come for a picnic.    That Thursday was a holiday called Himmelfahrt, we know it as Ascension Day.  In Germany all the Christian Holy Days are holidays and everything shuts down.  Even restaurants that are open on Sundays are closed for holidays.
Randy made some friends :) Himmelfahrt is also Vater's Tag in Germany.   Vater Tag is Father's Day.    We had heard that the custom on Father's Day was for young men to head into the woods and drink beer to celebrate NOT being fathers.  Notice the wagon full of beer in the picture above.  These young men were celebrating at Plesseburg.  Randy found out that one of the guys was married and another was going to be married.  It was great to be able to see a custom that we had heard about.
Smarties Push Ups - Yummy

Flip Flops and Lego's what could be better?  It's so much fun to celebrate a birthday with family.

Looks like a lot of fun with family! The Father's Day celebration made me laugh-I think Ron might like that after a weekend with all the kids! Enjoy having more company in the upcoming days....summer is fast approaching!!
